Formed in 2012, Swords Fencing Club meet throughout the year on Monday, Wednesday Thursday evenings from 8pm
Monday and Wednesday sessions take place at the Bebington Oval, Thursday sessions are at Bebington Civic Centre Wirral.
Some of our members are competitive, and have achieved success in national competitions, others come to enjoy the social aspects of the club.
We welcome fencers of all standards and attract members from around Wirral, Liverpool, North Wales and beyond.
New members, whether experienced fencers, or total beginners are always welcome. We run several beginners course during the year.
Fencing is suitable for all, we have no upper age range!
Club nights are £6 per visit, under 18's pay £4. The club does not charge any extra, all coaching is included in this price as is the use of all necessary fencing equipment.
Swords Fencing Club also offers, 'Sword Exercise', for those people who wish to learn how to use a sword without actually engaging in physical combat.
This is a great alternative to conventional fencing, which may be intimidating to some people.
Performing the actions has all the attendant benefits of an exercise which improves posture, strength, suppleness, balance and basic self defence.
First to be taught is a no sword exercise, from which can be learnt the basic movements and the coordination of both hands and feet. Next, the sword is introduced, followed by solo and two person exercises.
To book a four week introductory course, or for more information, please contact the club and ask about 'Sword Exercise'.
Please note, a foam sword (or similar light sword) will need to be purchased after the introductory course for solo forms
Instead of rigid, set dates, we offer introductory lessons throughout the year.
The course costs £24 for four, half hour sessions
Note - Within four weeks after completing the beginner's course, you must purchase a regulation fencing glove and epee body wire. More info >>

We've had a successful start to 2019.
Two of our younger fencers made the podium (silver and bronze) in their first epee competition. This follows on from last year when another member of Swords Fencing Club achieved several good results in sabre competitions
Well done to all!
